Multnomah Falls is Oregon's tallest waterfall and one of the most visited natural attractions in the Pacific Northwest. The 620-foot cascading waterfall drops in two major steps, split by Benson Bridge, an iconic footbridge that offers stunning mid-fall views. Located just 30 minutes east of Portland in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, it is easily accessible and absolutely breathtaking.

Tips for Visiting

What to Expect

From the parking area, it is a short, paved walk to the base of the falls where you can feel the mist on your face. From there, Benson Bridge is a short but steep hike offering incredible photo opportunities. For the adventurous, the trail continues another mile to the top of the falls, where you are rewarded with sweeping views of the Columbia River Gorge.

Spring and early summer are the best times to visit when snowmelt feeds the waterfall at its fullest. Fall offers beautiful foliage, and winter can bring icy conditions that make the trail challenging but the views magical.
